At the occasion of 800 years of the City of Lier, the local club
organizes a pre-competitive exhibition on May 19th and 20th 2012.
An
inscription form and
regulations are available. Inscription are possible up to the
end of February 2012.

22 October 2011 / Walter Major passed away
| On October 22nd National Commissioner for Aerophilately
in Belgium, Walter Major, passed away at his home in Ostend
after a long and painful sickness. Walter has always been a defender of Aero- AND Astrophilately in Belgium and together with our late President Georges Lauwers, they both fought for Astrophilately in Belgium. Walter has always been a very dedicated person, correct in judging and writing. He is the author of several authentic studies of Belgian airmail and had some very nice and seldom seen collections which gained a Gold Medal on National and International Exhibitions. Once again, a great (aero)philatelist has left us ... |

Cover collecting), which is a niche area of Philately. It
contains over 1,100 cover illustrations, along with

listings of events by programs, the APS Manual of Philatelic
Judging chapter on Astrophilately, the Federation
Internationale de Philatelique (F.I.P.) judging regulations
of GREV and SREV, and guidelines for exhibiting and judging

We have added a new section to the website, concerning more detailed
spaceflight information. The purpose is to bring some interesting
links and news to our members regarding international spaceflight,
as far as this information may be helpful in building up an
astrophilatelic exhibit.

26 December 2010 / Honorary President of FISA passed away
| On December 26th, 2010 our dear friend Kuno Sollors
passed away after a week of coma. Many Cosmos members will remember
Kuno as the always joking big man who loved to visit Belgium (the
chocolats) and to visit the Cosmos meetings in Gent. The board and members of BFV Cosmos wish to express their deepest condolences to his wife Renate and to his family. Visit the FISA website |

December 2010 / New magazine on Spaceflight
On December 22nd, 2010 the A Capella editors published a new magazine on spaceflight, "Espace &xploration". It's a complete new magazine in the French language only, on sale in kiosks in France and Belgium, and by subscription worldwide.

November 2010 / 25 Years of Astrophilately
Only in 1985, exactly 25 years ago, space cover collectors get their
own exhibition class !
On November 5th, 1985, on its Congress at Rome, the FIP Congress
adopted the motion of its Bureau to establish a Section on
Astrophilately within its Commission on Aerophilately.
Jürgen-Peter Esders wrote a nice article on this event.

October 2010 / BFV Cosmos on the website of Pro Post
The organisation Pro Post has a new website for all Belgian
philatelists and clubs and vendors.
The site gives space to each Belgian club to present itself on the
Pro Post website. So is BFV Cosmos : we give a small idea on what
astrophilately is and can be and we hope that new collectors will
read this an become interested in astrophilately.
A great and very nice idea Pro Post, promoting Belgian philately !

August 2010 / New book on American Astrophilately
David S. Ball published the
American Astrophilately : The First 50 Years, a book that has to be read by all astrophilatelists. Although it
is focused on the space programs of the United States, it gives also
advice on how to build up an astrophilatelic collection.
